[The following is from Malcolm Muggeride’s diary entry for November 22, 1950.]

Streets packed with people watching Queen Juliana of the Netherlands go by on her State visit. Reflected how easy it is to get people into the streets and recalled excellent observation of Cromwell to Fairfax when they were met by enthusiastic crowds. Fairfax said to Cromwell, presumably hoping to please him, that clearly the people loved them, and Cromwell replied that they’d just as cheerfully turn out to see them hanged.
